Drawer microwave ovens have become pretty popular in recent years. They can be placed pretty much anywhere in the cooking area, they don’t interfere with the overall design of your kitchen and they don’t take up too much room. The concept is great, but execution is often below average.
Sharp is a well-known company that’s been producing their own line of drawer microwave ovens for quite some time. The KB-6524PS 24-Inch is one of their best known models and this is our full review.

Sharp usually make an effort when it comes to design and they don’t disappoint with this model either. The microwave looks nice and modern, the surface is smooth and clean and the LCD display looks and works great.
The KB-6524PS is a bit on the large side, but Sharp have, nonetheless, managed to make it decently compact and pretty functional. The slick, smooth design of this microwave is by no means revolutionary or special, but the KB-6524PS looks good enough to suit most kitchens, regardless of the overall aesthetic design or color scheme.
The control panel is easy to use and the drawer slides out without any issues. The capacity of 1.2 cubic feet is large enough for preparing full-blown meals. This isn’t just a popcorn/reheating microwave, but a bit more than that.
All in all, Sharp, once again, delivers regarding design.
To put it simply, this microwave oven performs well, but there are some things that are keeping it from being great. For a start, let’s focus on the good. Decently large capacity, accurate sensors and a large number of presets is where this model excels. This should be more than enough for most users, but those who are looking for more features (that Sharp has gotten us used to, by the way) might be a bit disappointed.
On the other hand, given the relatively low price, this is to be expected. Most importantly, all food prepared in this microwave oven comes out evenly cooked – which isn’t something you can say about all microwaves. Reheating and defrosting works equally well.
The presets; beverage, melt, popcorn, reheat, soften and keep warm all work great and certainly easy the process of preparing even bigger meals.
On the downside, there aren’t too many additional features and options and the relatively large size of this microwave oven might turn out to be a problem for some people. If you don’t have a spacey kitchen it might be a bit hard to integrate the KB-6524PS with other appliances and make everything work aesthetically.
Overall, Sharp’s KB-6524PS is a good, solid microwave oven that doesn’t cost too much and does almost everything most of us need. It’s quite big, pretty heavy and robust, but performs very well.
